Odia Rachana Raja parba
" Raja Parba" festival celebrated in Odisha. It is a 3-days unique in which the onset of monsoon and the earth’s womanhood is celebrated by the state.Frist Pahili Raja second day Mithuna Sankranti third day is Bhudaaha or Basi Raja The final fourth day is called Basumati snana,It is believed that during this time the Mother Earth or Bhudevi undergoes menstruation. The fourth day is the day of the ‘purification bath’. During 3 days,festivalFrist women don’t work. The day before first day is called Sajabaja or preparatory day during which the house, kitchen including grinding stones are cleaned, spices are ground for three days. During these three days women and girls take rest from work and wear new Saree, Alata, and ornaments.
This is one of the most famous festivals in Odisha that pays tribute to the menstruation cycle. It is said that the Vasumati goddess got her mensuration during this time. It is believed that mother earth menstruates during these three days and a ceremonial bath takes place on the fourth day. This day is celebrated by girls wearing new clothes, taking swings, and hanging on the tree branches. Ploughing the fields does not take place and unmarried girls celebrate as it's their day of celebration.
